As soon as Luka Doncic came on the scene, a Dallas Mavericks staff member gave him a new nickname. That’s “El Matador,” a reference to his time at Real Madrid and to the way he plays offense, which is to lure defenders into bad spots so he can score easily.
The shoe’s red, gold, and black color scheme is significant
This upcoming Air Jordan 36 takes on the name “El Matador” by giving the high-top basketball shoe a bold and attractive red upper covered by a tapestry of gold, like the bright traje de luces costumes that Spanish bullfighters wear. Instead of the usual Leno-weave upper on the Air Jordan 36, Jordan Brand uses a fabric that looks like canvas and a suede toe-guard. Last but not least, Luka’s logo is proudly displayed on the left shroud, and “El Matador” is written on both the heel-tabs and the tongue-backs.
Overall, the Air Jordan 36 “El Matador” has more style and personality than the typical high-top shoe while resembling the armor of a real fighting bull. Though they are obviously more expensive than the vintage style, I believe that any lover of the Air Jordan series will have to think about purchasing these shoes.
