SUEDE WILL REPLACE MESH IN THE NEXT NIKE AIR RIFT

The Nike Air Rift offers the disputed split toe, which isn’t a suitable substitute to Margiela’s ever-popular Tabi Boot. And, given the lower price point, it’s probable that some will prefer the Swoosh’s design — especially now that it’s adding a durable suede to its toolset.

Nike’s Air Rift gets a fresh look in “Light Bone.”

This Air Rift replaces its mesh structure with a suede-based one, making it more sophisticated than prior releases. The outside paneling and the ends of the elasticated strap are dressed in “Light Bone.” The synthetic internals, meanwhile, protrude from the side and collar, sporting a desaturated grey tint that contrasts with both the aforementioned and the “Honeydew” hits around the overlays’ borders, embroidered branding, and outsole.

Conclusion

The “suede effect” style is different from what we’re used to seeing from Nike, but it gives people more ways to customize their shoes. The most important question now is how the sneaker community will react to the trend toward suede sneakers. Only time will tell.
