This year, Nike’s first Air Max sneaker is back in a big way, with a bunch of new colorways and special releases to mark its 35th anniversary. Even though new in-line styles have been slow to come out, we are starting to get sneak peeks at new colors that will be coming out later this year.
Suede overlays add a personal touch without taking away from the design
Today, the “Ironstone” style showed up online, showing a clean new version of the classic running shoe. The look starts with a white mesh base layer for the toe box and collars. Off-white suede overlays are added to the toe, quarter panels, and heels to finish the look. On each side, there is a dark brown Swoosh, and the toes have a matching embroidered Swoosh. The midsole has a worn, yellowed look, and the look is finished off by special tongue tags with neon branding and a description of Air technology.
To say the least, the “Ironstone” Air Max 1 is a pleasant surprise. It will be fascinating to see how this hue turns out, as it seems more like Nike’s traditional basketball sneakers. However, if it looks anything like the original Air Max 1 did back in 1987, sneakerheads will be screaming for this latest model.
