The Nike Air Force 1 has experienced many alterations in the last 40 years. Bruce Kilgore’s famous design has used Nike React foam for a new cushioning option in the last year.

This redesigned sneaker keeps its classic look

Even though the new Air Force 1 React uses a tried-and-true mix of materials and layout, Kilgore’s original design has been changed in the sole unit and the back half of the upper. Most of the sneaker’s top half is made of semi-transparent nylon. This Nike’s sneaker shows a bright mix of green and blue that goes well with the off-white and black tones that make up most of the forefoot and accents on the profile and tongue. Pull tabs at the heel also add non-standard functionality to the classic design, but the most noticeable change from the 40-year-old silhouette is the enclosed React cushioning solution that can be seen underfoot.

The new colorways of the Nike Air Force 1 are a great example of how a classic model can be updated in many ways. The Volt and Blue colors are great additions to the AF1 line, and fans of this classic shoe should look for them.
