Fabric, cotton, printedQuilt wadding Zip, 19cm
Download the templates, print and cut out. Clip two pieces of lining, two of wadding and one of outer fabric. Following the horizontal line on the template, cut another outer in two sections, adding a 5mm seam allowance to the dividing line on both pieces.
Cut a 7cm X 50cm strip of contrasting fabric and fold in half lengthways, right sides out, then press along the fold. Pleat the strip, pinning the raw edges of each pleat to the right side of the top of the lower section of the two-part pouch outer. Topstitch in place.
Place the lower edge of the upper section of the outer right sides together over the frill, matching up all raw edges, and sew. Fold out, press the frill seam to the upper part and topstitch. Place the pouch outers onto the wadding, right sides out, and zig zag stitch around the edges to bind, catching the ends of the frill in the stitching and trimming away the excess.
Take one outer, place the zip face down along the top edge and lay one lining over this. Sew close to the teeth of the zip, fold out so the zip sits on the top edge of the fabric pieces and topstitch the seam. Repeat on the other edge of the zip.
Open the zip halfway before matching the pouch pieces right sides together and sewing down the sides and along the bottom. Trim the seams and neaten with a zig zag. Fold the corners in the opposite direction and stitch along the straight line that forms at the cut outs to make a feedsack base to the pouch. Neaten as before and turn out through the zip.
