The Air Jordan 13 may not be as popular as some of Michael Jordan’s single-digit models, but its historical importance can’t be overstated.

This shoe pays tribute to UNC with a clean look

In the last two years, the black panther design has been used in a number of outfits that aren’t original, with varying degrees of success. Tinker Hatfield’s 11th addition to the Air Jordan line came out before the holidays in a “Black” and “University Blue” colorway that adds to the “homages” to the University of North Carolina (UNC). Most of the upper is made of dark, dimpled mesh. The mudguard, the area around the heel, and the paw-shaped sole unit are all blue to match the Tar Heels. Some people on social media have said they like an Air Jordan 14 from 2006 that looks similar, but the latest “UNC” retro is sure to find a place in many sneaker rotations thanks to its clean, heritage-inspired look.

Overall, the Air Jordan 13 is a great shoe and one of the best in the whole Air Jordan line. It’s not nearly as flashy or well-known as some of its predecessors, but the new design and “Black/University Blue” colorway set it apart from most other models.
